Nopa
Number one performing arts charity

Mission

At No 1 Performing Arts (NOPA), we work with people of all ages in some of the most disadvantaged communities in Lambeth.

Based at Karibu Education Centre, we’ll help anyone who wants to learn how to sing, or develop their performance and vocal skills.

We’re also focused on promoting good mental health and wellbeing – and we’ve been doing so since 1991.

We blend vocal training, performing arts and creative activities with therapy, and work with hundreds of people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to mental health services.

Our aim is to get to the root of stress and low self-esteem. When we do this, the results are astounding: we’re able to help people of any age achieve their full potential. Some of our students have followed their dreams to become professional artists, while others have used their newly developed confidence to make improvements in academics or their career.

We know that every family is different, but anyone and everyone who makes use of NOPA’s services will be treated fairly and respectfully. We’re fortunate to have a talented and experienced team with a wealth of expertise and knowledge, who will be here to support you throughout your journey with us. We know it can be challenging to face things alone, which is why we’ll make sure you won’t have to.

We offer

  • Therapies both in the community and in schools. Whether it’s individual or group therapy, we make sure it’s always available for anyone who needs it.
  • Vocal coaching in the community. A great way to develop new skills and boost confidence.
  • Performance coaching in the community. Tune your performance skills – this isn’t only suited to those with heaps of confidence. It can help with overcoming fears, working on your stage presence and learning to project your voice.
  • Outreach support in schools. We can help with guidance, support services, advocacy, signposting and performance workshops.
  • Opportunities We love working in partnership with schools: we can provide training for staff, as well as students who are interested in a placement with us. If you’d like to learn more about an opportunity, or suggest a new one, get in touch with us through our CONTACT PAGE.

Our partnerships are incredibly valuable to us: besides schools, we work with statutory services and voluntary organisations, too. We’re all united by our desire to help children, families and everyone in the community to get the best out of life.
